In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017. This file highlights open issues with Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017 and provides information that is useful while using this software.

    Before you begin...

    1. Install all Windows Updates that are pending on your machine, and then restart.

      (For Windows 7 and Windows 8, use the Windows Update utility located in the Control Panel or under All Programs in the Start Menu.)

    2. Close all Autodesk applications before you install, maintain, or uninstall Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017.

    To install Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017:

    1. Uninstall Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017 Beta if you installed it previously.
    2. Insert the product DVD or locate the installer file that you downloaded from the Autodesk website (typically *.exe, *.msi, or *.msp).
    3. Double-click Setup.exe on the DVD, or alternatively the downloaded file, to start the installation process.
    4. Accept the LICENSE AND SERVICES AGREEMENT, and click Next.
    5. Optionally, in the Configure Installation page, set preferences as needed.
    6. After configuration, click Install.
    7. When the installation is done, click Finish.
    8. If required, restart your system.

    To Activate Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017:

    1. Start Autodesk Simulation Mechanical. The Let's Get Started dialog appears.
    2. Choose your type of license:
      • If you are using a standalone license, click Enter a Serial Number.
      • If you are using a floating network license, click Use a Network License.
    3. Enter your serial number and product key code and then click Activate, or enter your license server name and click Done (depending upon your license type).

      Note: You can specify a port number with the server name using the format, xxxxx@servername.


    When creating a deployment image of Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017:

    1. Include only English characters in the deployment image path.
    2. Enter your Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017 serial number when creating a deployment.

    To verify the installation is successful, start Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017. Click the double-arrows near the top-right corner of the window to expand the InfoCenter icon group. Click the down-arrow next to the question mark icon and select About. If the About dialog box displays: Build 2017.00.00.31nn, the correct version is installed.
