Build: 020
Autodesk FeatureCAM 2018.3 Update Readme
Autodesk, Inc.
In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, this update addresses issues pertaining to the release and adds some minor enhancements. This readme contains information about the changes contained in this update.
User Experience
- This update includes a new feature, Shared Views, which allows collaboration on a representation of a part within a web browser. Using a link provided by you, anyone can view and comment on a Shared View without needing to have an Autodesk product installed. Shared Views is only available to subscription users.
Import
- Fix a bug in which certain hole types imported from SolidWorks were not recognized.
- Fix a crash when opening or importing a file from the SolidWorks PDM vault and then saving it to another location.
Transform
- Fix an issue with the Transform tool: When snapping to point, the geometry being transformed was deselected, and the point selected for transforming instead.
Simulation
- Fix a performance issue when programming with multiple turrets; certain helical toolpaths on the second turret could cause centerline simulation to become very slow.
Post-processing
- Fix a problem during post-processing of index moves that start at C-90 so that splitting the moves generates proper output.
- Fix a crash that could occur when setting post variables from the feature properties or manufacturing attributes dialog.
- Fix a crash which could occur at the end of NC code generation.
- Fix a problem with the tooltip info displayed from the Windows file browser for posts (.cnc files). In some cases, a .cnc file could not be deleted from the hard drive.
User Interface
- Fix a crash which could occur when setting a value for the plunge point.
- Fix several crashes that could occur during display refresh.
- Fix a crash that could occur when dragging items in the Part View.
- Fix a crash which could occur when customizing the quick access toolbar with certain commands.
- Protect against potential crashes in several areas of the user interface.
API
- Provide access to expand and collapse items in the Part View from the API.
- Add a function for creating a cap surface from the API.
Import
- Add support for importing SolidWorks 2017 files.
- Added support for PMI data imported from STEP files.
Fusion 360 Production
- Developed an addin which allows FeatureCAM part information to be uploaded to Fusion 360 Production.
Milling
- Add a warning message when FeatureCAM is unable to create a surface from one of the faces selected for a shell milling feature. Previously, the feature would fail without providing information about the problem. Users will need to deselect the invalid surfaces in order to create the feature.
Simulation
- Fix a crash which could occur during the feature preview simulation if the user clicked OK in the feature properties dialog before the simulation had completed.
- Fix a bug in which machine simulation was cutting at the wrong location after a rechuck operation.
Copy / Paste / Part Library
- Fix a bug which prevented patterns and groups from being pasted from the Part Library.
- Fix a crash which could occur when applying a Transform operation to a set of objects.
- Fix a crash which could occur when using the Paste Special option of copying attributes to another feature.
Addins
- Import Vise
- Fix power importation positioning issues with auto-centering vises.
- Fix a positioning issue if a vise is imported on a workplane with a different orientation than the transform.
- Added support for custom parallels.
- Added the creation of a simulation workplane.
- Nesting: Can now nest a turning part without launching PowerShape.
Help
- Fix a bug in which offline help was not available if FeatureCAM was installed to a drive other than the C: drive.
User Interface
- Fix a bug in which the interface was unnecessarily applying window resize when multiple windows were open. This caused some flickering when switching between windows. (This does not yet address all of the flickering issues that have been reported.)
- Fix the icons for snapping to a cylinder center and a cylinder endpoint so that they can be distinguished.
- Fix a problem with buttons not displaying correctly in the Holder tab of the Tool Properties dialog, and in the Spindles & Holders dialog.
- Fix a bug in which a user could inadvertently remove buttons from the simulation toolbar by dragging them with the ALT key pressed.
- Fix a crash that could occur when changing the window tiling and then opening a new document in the application.
- Fix a crash that could occur when selecting a solid with multiple documents open.
Import
- Import functionality which was previously provided by a third-party vendor has been replaced with Autodesk technology that is widely used across the Autodesk product portfolio. This change will ultimately give us the ability to deliver more translator functionality, and to produce updates more quickly. While every effort has been made to ensure that all files that could previously be imported to FeatureCAM will still import in the same way, there are some limits to the replacement functionality as follows:
DWG/DXF Import
- Fix a bug in which a curve imported from DXF into FeatureCAM and then exported resulted in an unreasonable file size.
- Fix a problem with importing some solids stored in proxy entities.
- Improve the ability to import DWG and DXF files with invalid data.
Turning
- Fix a bug for turned face grooves in which there was no side lift off for the first pass.
- Fix a bug in which the endpoints defined by the system violated the profile when connecting to the finishing operation.
Milling
- Fix a bug in which entering a zero or negative plunge clearance did not work correctly in combination with the Retract to Z Rapid option.
- Fix a crash which sometimes occurred when setting the total stock.
Toolpath Edit
- Fix a crash which could occur when adding a toolpath segment to an existing toolpath edit feature.
User Interface
- Fix a crash which sometimes occurred when trying to close and empty document.
- Fix a bug in which the “Information” screen on the backstage (File) view was not storing and displaying values correctly.
- Remove an incorrect popup message about the Getting Started Guide.
- Fix a delay in updating the selection of a setup in the part view and the ribbon.
- Fix a bug in which creating toolpath edit features from the ribbon did not allow selection of milling or turning type. (Two buttons are provided now.)
- Fix a bug with the “Finish” and “Finish and Edit” options when editing feature properties.
- Allow expanding and collapsing patterns and groups in the part view to make the tree easier to read.
- Fix a bug in which Feature dropdown buttons on the ribbon did not remember the last used item.
- Add translations for dialogs involved with customer error reports so that these dialogs now appear in the local language.
Licensing / Installer
- Fix uninstaller to remove a few files that were not being deleted.
- Consolidate behavior for trial mode so that it is the same regardless of how the trial was launched.
Posting
- Fix a bug in which NC code for a milling document couldn’t be saved after posting with a Swiss post.
- Fix a crash that could occur if the requested post (.cnc file) did not exist and add an error message to notify the user.
- Fix a crash that could occur when browsing to find a post (.cnc file).
- Fix a bug in which the “Edit in Text Editor” function in Xbuild did not work for Wire EDM posts.
- Fix a bug in which the “Split rotary moves” checkbox in Xbuild applied (incorrectly) to turning moves rather than only rotary moves.
- Improve the interaction with the multi-channel editor by communicating the number of channels from FeatureCAM.
Addins
- Fix a bug in the multi-channel html viewer addin so that wait codes with a common prefix a identified as separate wait codes (e.g. Wait2 and Wait20).
- Fix a crash in the Setup Sheet addin which occurred if a setup contained a part ejector feature.
General
- This Hot Fix contains changes to the programs installation and registry entries to allow further updates to be applied.
- If this Hot Fix isn't applied, then users will be unable to receive further updates through the Autodesk Desktop App.
- When the Hot Fix has been applied and the program is running the 'Help > About' dialog will display 'Version: 2018.0.0.132'. This value has not been changed by the Hot Fix.
