The Rail Data Exchange Extension for Civil 3D enables interoperability between Civil 3D and rail design tools commonly used in Europe.  This Extension currently supports the import and export of XTR files for interoperability with Toporail as well as adding functionality for the import and export of Verm.esn data files (TRA and GRA).  The extension places a Toporail and Verm.esn panel on the Civil 3D Rail ribbon.

Key Features of the Toporail Ribbon Panel:

• Import Toporail data from XTR files into Autodesk Civil 3D
• Export of model elements from Autodesk Civil 3D to Toporail's XTR format.
• The adding of Toporail styles into the current DWG file.

Key Features of the Verm.esn Ribbon Panel:

• Import function creates alignment from binary *.TRA file and profile from binary *.GRA file.
• Export function creates binary .TRA files from Civil alignments and binary .GRA files from Civil profiles

Note: Import with referencing station is possible, but export with referencing station is not implemented in the current version.

The Rail Data Exchange Extension for Civil 3D supports the following Civil 3D model elements:

• CANT information

As you prepare to install this extension, keep the following in mind:

Back Up Custom Files

It is recommended that you back up all custom CUIX, MNR, and MNL files before you apply this extension.

Administrative Privileges

During installation or uninstallation, you may be prompted for the original installation media or a network image. In order to apply this extension, you must have privileges to install and uninstall products.

Close the Application

It is required that you close Autodesk^® Civil 3D^® 2025 before proceeding with the installation of this extension.

Reboot

After you install, it is recommended to reboot your system even if not prompted.

About Your Product

After you install, product information is displayed in the About dialog box.

Follow these instructions to install this extension on a single computer.

1. Download the extension and save it to any folder.
2. Close all running Autodesk applications.
3. Find the folder where you saved the extension and double-click the executable (.exe) file.

1. Download this extension and save it to any shared folder on your local network.
2. Close all running Autodesk applications.
3. Find the shared folder where you saved the extension, and double-click the executable (.exe) file.

This extension can be uninstalled through the Program and Features section of the Microsoft^® Windows^® Control Panel.

Follow these instructions to uninstall this extension on a single computer.

1. In the Windows "Apps and Features" menu, click on the Autodesk Rail Data Exchange Extension 2025 for Civil 3D or and choose the Uninstall option.
2. In the Autodesk Rail Data Exchange Extension for Civil 3D 2025 maintenance dialog box click Yes to confirm that you want to uninstall the extension.
