Thank you for downloading the Autodesk® Civil Engineering Data Translator Client 1.3.

These release notes contain the latest information regarding the installation of this client. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you install this client. For reference, you should save this document to your hard drive or print a copy.

New in version 1.3: This release updates the authorization API of the Civil Engineering Data Translator Client. Legacy versions will not be able to log in beginning April 30, 2024.

Note: The Autodesk Civil Engineering Data Translator client includes the installation of Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.7. When the installation completes, Microsoft Windows may prompt for a restart.

The Autodesk® Civil Engineering Data Translator Client is a standalone application that is used to access the Autodesk Civil Engineering Data Translator server and services.  The Autodesk Civil Engineering Data Translator service translates Autodesk® Civil 3D® files to files that can be used in Bentley® GEOPAK® and Bentley® InRoads®, and to translate GEOPAK and InRoads files to files that can be used in Autodesk Civil 3D. The Civil Engineering Data Translator is a secure cloud service that is not dependent upon a specific version of Autodesk Civil 3D.

As you prepare to install this client, keep the following in mind:

Administrative Privileges

In order to apply this client, you must have privileges to install and uninstall products.

Network Deployment

Administrators can deploy this client over a network using the Deployment Wizard.

Previously Installed Versions

Uninstalling Civil Engineering Data Translator Client 1.2 is not necessary to upgrade to verson 1.3. Versions prior to 1.2 will require a manual uninstall before installing version 1.3.

Close the Application

It is required that you close Autodesk® Civil 3D® before proceeding with the installation of this client.

Reboot

After you install, it is recommended to reboot your system even if not prompted.

About Your Product

After you install, product information is displayed in the About dialog box.

Apply This Client to a Stand-Alone Installation

Follow these instructions to install this client on a single computer.

  1. Download the client and save it to any folder.
  2. Close all running Autodesk applications.
  3. Find the folder where you saved the client and double-click the executable (EXE) file.

Apply This Client Through a Local Network

Follow these instructions to install this client on multiple computers using your local network.

  1. Download this client and save it to any shared folder on your local network.
  2. Close all running Autodesk applications.
  3. Find the shared folder where you saved the client, and double-click the executable (EXE) file.

Apply This Client to a Network Administrative Image

The following method of distributing the Autodesk Civil Engineering Data Translator client applies only to administrative images created with the Autodesk Civil 3D Network Installation wizard. After you complete this procedure, any new deployments of Autodesk Civil 3D will also install the client automatically. For information on creating and updating a Network Administrative Image please see Workflow: Creating a network deployment.

To apply the Autodesk Civil Engineering Data Translator client to an existing Autodesk Civil 3D administrative image:

  1. Download this client and save it to any shared folder on your local network.
  2. Close all running Autodesk applications.
  3. On the workstation where you initially created the Autodesk Civil 3D deployment, open the Tools folder and double-click the Create & Modify a deployment shortcut icon.
  4. Follow the wizard to the product configuration screen and expand the Include additional software accordion.
  5. In the Additional Software section, click Add and browse to the location you saved the client.
  6. Collapse the Include additional software accordion and click the Create button.

Now any new deployments of Autodesk Civil 3D will also install the client automatically.

Uninstall This Client

This client can be uninstalled through the Program and Features section of the Microsoft® Windows® Control Panel.

Follow these instructions to uninstall this client on a single computer.

  1. Make sure the installation source files are available.
  2. In Windows Control Panel > Program and Features, double click on the Autodesk Civil Engineering Data Translator.
  3. In the Autodesk Civil Engineering Data Translator Setup dialog box choose the Uninstall option.
